Becoming a Member

The Scout Association has over 28 million members in 216 countries and territories across the world, which we reckon is pretty megabeans! If you like the sound of what we do and are interested in joining or getting your son or daughter involved then please get in touch with Kevin:

Phone: 07812 846225

Email: gsl@1sh.org

He'll be able to work his charm, answer any questions you might have and put you in touch with the appropriate section leader that will be able to help you further. So take the plunge! It might be the best phone call you ever make! (Other than that one that wins you squillions, or a pencil sharpener, on some game card out of the paper of course)

The group is open to all regardless of gender, race, faith or background. Klingons, Ewoks and people with funny hair most welcome!

Becoming a Leader or Helper

We're always on the lookout for adults who want to get involved in Scouting, and we're always roping in those adults who seem to think they don't want to get involved. So if you fancy giving it a go, or if you don't but are the sort that's easily swayed, read on...

The group has seen considerable growth in the past few years, particularly in the younger sections. This means that as time goes by and sweet little children morph into garish teenage monsters, we'll be needing more hands on deck throughout the group. Whether you fancy becoming a leader and taking part in the Scout Association's fantastically exciting training programme, helping as and when you can during weekly meetings or assisting with administration, there's jobs to be had for all!

"If I help, I certainly don't want any monetary reward for my troubles!" we hear you cry. Don't panic, we've got it covered. No matter what role you take on, you won't receive a bean for it. And you know what that means, you can enjoy that warm, fuzzy feeling you'll get inside from knowing your helping young people achieve their potential, and your doing it for gratis!

We also strongly encourage parental support and believe that the group, the child and the parent benefit, even if only by building up the stock of embarrassing photos for the family album. So please don't hesitate to get in touch if you want to get involved whilst your child is a member.
